G is for Gross

Gross motor, that is. This summer I'd like to focus on Sweet Pea's gross motor skills. While she is wonderful at the fine motor skills of writing and drawing, she's terribly uncoordinated and needs some extra work.
Specifically, I'd like to work on skipping and riding a bike. Sweet Pea learned to do monkey bars last summer, and recently mastered putting her hands in front of herself when falling instead of catching herself with her face. So progress IS being made!
I'd also like to work on swimming with her, but that's a little more difficult to facilitate.

Anyone else with an uncoordinated child?

Letter Writing

Today I had Sweet Pea compose and write a letter. She needed help with some of the spelling and how to format, but I thought it was a really good way to bring together a lot of the general language arts skills we learned over the last year. Writing with Ease, the program we used, didn't cover this, so it was good to add it in. Her writing is confident and she knew what she wanted to say- and she's really excited to mail it off!

Tomorrow we'll work on how to properly address the envelope.

She's also been diligently working on her puzzling skills- she's up to doing 300 piece ones by herself!

I'm also including this- Sweet Pea said that some day she wants to live in a house like this.

Little Bird has been busy as well- we just started working on her letters. I'm going to teach her the vowels first.

She wanted her masterpiece up, too.

Happy Easter!

We went to a very kind woman's house and colored Easter eggs- my kids had a fabulous time!

Sweet Pea put this Wall-E together out of Duplos a few weeks ago- I've been promising her I'd take a picture, so here it is. :)

And Little Bird wanted to share this- it's from Starfall, one of my favorite early literacy sites.
