A very, VERY kind mama friend sent me a complete Sonlight core- D&E combined, with the extra books from each.
I've been poring over it and... I love it. Sonlight has appealed to me for a long time, but the cost has put me off.
I don't have that excuse now.
It's a regular switch-a-roo around here lately, and I apologize for it. There's no consistency, although each step seems to be bringing us to something new and better. And more mainstream in many ways.
This really appeals to Sweet Pea's love of reading and my love of scheduling.
Anyone use Sonlight?
I love Sonlight... but I'm biased [smile]. A huge box (or two) of books does cost a pretty penny. So cool that you've got such great friends [smile]. Enjoy your year!

I'm finally de-lurking...
ReplyDeleteWe use the Sonlight B science curriculum and I really like it. I am thinking of using their core next year when we do second grade and kindergarten. In the last few weeks of homeschooling I'm finding that my 1st grader learns better and enjoys school more then we do more reading.
Hey, it's a good bias, Luke! I wish I'd made the switch earlier! I hope to enjoy this year a lot.
ReplyDeleteThe Sonlight science stuff looks awesome- but the Core is better still. One of the reasons that I've switch to the idea of a more lit. centric curricula is that it encourages more reading to my kids- and I don't think you can ever do too much of it.
And Rachel- thanks for delurking! :)
